The Auto Damage Claims Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day management of auto damage claims resulting from towing and roadside incidents. The ideal fit will have experience in total loss management, liability determination, and reviewing estimates.
This position will require a high level of empathy and professionalism as there will be direct contact with customers, clients, and Tow providers. Knowledge of basic liability principles and experience writing/reading vehicle estimates is a plus. Additional responsibilities may include subrogation of paid-out claims, and working directly with liable Tow companies or their insurance representatives to recover claim money.
Essential Functions
- Maintain detailed and organized Zendesk claims tickets, including documentation of interactions, liability determinations, and settlement offers.
- Determine the facts of the service and loss through statements from all involved parties, damage photographs, service photographs, and any additional relevant support for investigation.
- Issue liability decisions and communicate findings to customers, service providers, clients, legal representatives, and insurance companies.
- Accurately evaluate the value of total loss vehicles and coordinate salvage arrangements with vendors.
- Prepare and communicate total loss settlement offers to customers.
- Obtain and verify vehicle ownership documents (e.g., title transfers) to finalize settlements.
- Ensure total loss claims are processed promptly and in compliance with state regulations.
- Update claim statuses in internal systems and ensure accurate reporting of key metrics.
- Monitor and manage claim lifecycle to ensure compliance with client requirements.
- Maintain direct contact with Customers, roadside Service Providers, Client representatives and insurance adjusters throughout the claims process.
Requirements
- Must be extremely well organized and be able to pay attention to even the smallest of details
- Must be a quick learner-- you’ll be tasked with learning the ins and outs of all HONK’s internal and external systems
- Proficiency in working with all Google products -- including Google Drive, Sheets, Docs
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, writing, documentation and verbal skills
- Previous experience working in an auto body shop, car rental, or insurance company preferred
