The Vehicle Title Clerk is responsible for processing and managing vehicle title and registration documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations. This role ensures accurate, timely completion of title work, resolves discrepancies, and works closely with internal teams, dealerships, lenders, and state DMVs to support smooth vehicle transactions.

Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and process vehicle titles, registrations, and related documentation
- Verify accuracy and completeness of title documents, including lien information, odometer disclosures, and bills of sale
- Prepare title packets for customers, ensuring all required documents are included and ready for mailing
- Submit title and registration paperwork to state DMVs in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
- Track title status and follow up on pending, rejected, or missing documentation
- Resolve title issues such as errors, missing signatures, lien releases, or corrections
- Communicate with buyers, sellers, lenders, dealerships, and DMVs to obtain required documentation
- Maintain accurate records and update internal systems with title status and notes
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to vehicle titling and registration
- Meet internal service-level agreements (SLAs) and productivity standards
- Support audits and respond to title-related inquiries as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in vehicle titling, registration, or automotive administrative work
- Strong knowledge of DMV processes and title regulations (multi-state experience a plus)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage high volumes of paperwork in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with lenders or lienholders
- Familiarity with electronic titling (ELT) systems
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle exceptions and escalations
- Customer-service oriented approach
