Position Overview:
The Associate Counsel will provide legal counsel on a variety of issues related to healthcare law, regulatory compliance, and contract management. This role is ideal for a legal professional with 1-3 years of experience, who possesses a strong foundation in healthcare law and a keen interest in regulatory research, particularly concerning Medicare and Medicaid. A solid understanding of privacy regulations and experience in contract reviews is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Counsel: Advise management and internal stakeholders on healthcare law and related regulatory issues, including compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other healthcare programs.
- Regulatory Research: Conduct thorough research and analysis of federal and state healthcare regulations, focusing on updates and implications for our business operations.
- Contract Review: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including vendor agreements, partnership contracts, and service agreements to ensure compliance with relevant legal standards.
- Privacy Compliance: Provide guidance on privacy regulations and ensure organizational practices align with legal requirements to protect sensitive patient and corporate data.
- State Licensure and Corporate Filings: Manage state Medicaid agency licensure and maintain corporate state filings to ensure ongoing compliance with state regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to proactively identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Policy Development: Assist in developing and updating company policies, ensuring they meet legal standards and best practices in the healthcare industry.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar license in good standing.
- 1-3 years of relevant legal experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare law and regulatory research, particularly related to Medicare and Medicaid.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations affecting the healthcare sector.
- Experience in contract reviews and negotiations.
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
